Alison Kenward

Alison is a BHS Intermediate Instructor and Stable Manager as well as being a BD accredited trainer. Alison has a varied riding background and has played polocrosse internationally and hunted jumping over wire in New Zealand. As a young rider Alison enjoyed show jumping and mounted games but her ambition has always been to compete successfully in the dressage arena. Alison rode her first pure dressage test on William in 2005 and then met Jack- Jack and Alison compete in affiliated dressage in pure and freestyle tests at Elementary and Medium level.

Alison works as a freelance instructor coaching people for competitions, preparing students for exams and helping people build partnerships with their horse so they can have fun! Alison began studying for her Preliminary Teacher's Certificate in 1994 with Michelle Carman at Greenacres in Puxley and went on to gain work experience as an Instructor with Grafton, Pytchley, Northampton and later Taupo(NZ) Pony Clubs teaching all age ranges. Alison is a regular instructor at mini, junior and senior PC camps. Alison later trained at Brampton Stables and The Gleneagles Equestrian Centre passing her AI, II and in 2005 her BHS I Stable Managers exam.

Alison enjoys competition coaching and has worked extensively with Junior riders including travelling as assistant coach with the NZ Junior Polocrosse team to Western Australia in 2000. (Alison is a qualified UKPA and PC Polocrosse umpire and coach) Alison coached the Bay of Plenty provincial Gymkhana team at the North Island Championships and prepared riders for the North Island Horse Trials and SJ Champs in 2000/01 Back home , Alison has prepared teams for the UK PC polocrosse championships and prepared Senior riders for affiliated dressage to area level. Alison was a member of the BHS Leonardo Exchange in 2005 and enjoyed coaching students in Spain though she had no real knowledge of Spanish at the start!

Alison is currently working with riders who are aiming for BD Nationals, riders preparing for Novice Eventing and riders from Aspley Guise RC who enjoy all activities. Alison runs popular 'First Steps Dressage' and 'Getting Started in Freestyle' sessions and clinics as well as BHS Horse Owner's Certificate Courses.
