Some people say that being involved with horses is a true passion and a disease; I think for me that this is probably true! During my successful competitive riding career I started to work as a trainer and share the knowledge I had learnt over the years.  None of the horses that I have owned and produced were bought for their amazing breeding or talent. In fact most of them were “chuck outs” with a label for being quirky but I fell in love with them!  Indeed they did take time, as so many horses do, but all proved themselves in one way or another. I really believe that Nelly the elephant can be taught to do ballet and the high jump! Rococo, probably my best known horse, was a 15.2 appaloosa/ TB with neither big nor extravagant action. His dressage career was amazing being happily trained to intermediare level and able to do all the movements under side saddle as well! He proved to me that all horses can be guided if the right programme is adopted for them and it is for this I have become well known. Preparation is my motto and I try to install this in all my training to create a higher level of confidence and am happy to help people at any level. I am also very keen at looking at the psychology of the horse and rider and how they inter act. I have been lucky enough to own horses with different talents so my competing has taken me across the board in the disciplines and although often thought of as a dressage and side saddle trainer I enjoy teaching jumping clients. Based at my sisters yard in Northamptonshire, 2008 looks to be a busy year. We have two young ponies to produce and are on the hunt for a nice young horse. If all goes according to plan we should have 6 competing this year from home!  I have ridden and trained horses in the following;
  • International side saddle rider/trainer and British Team member. Side saddle display team manager for Britain and Europe
  • Dressage to Advanced Level
  • Event horses up to Advanced level and FEI ponies
  • Show jumping horses and ponies to grade B and JA
  • Mounted Police Horse Civilian Trainer (approx 20 years) This work has been invaluable for use with spooky/unconfident horses. Spook busting clinics are run regularly.
  • County Show horses including HOYS Ladies hunters and Working Hunter Ponies
  • Pony Club and Riding Club Instructor
  • BHS Welfare Officer

Finally I am a magazine article writer and the co author “What not to wear on a Horse”.
